I was super excited when my colleague Suba asked me to shoot her family prayers last weekend, Mostly because I had no idea what it would entail. Turns out it was better than I could have ever expected! Way too many people in one apartment, and then add drums, smoke and fire! It was such an privilege to be there, and I think I fell in love with her family – so many warm, welcoming aunties, uncles and cousins. The shoot was hard work, with no space to move or breath, and fighting against really poor light of no less than 6 different colours, but I just love the way the D700 deals with low light, and gives photos that film-grain look that I haven’t seen with any other camera.
Peter G @ Souvlaki For The Soul - Just stunning! The colours are so vivid! The D700 (and you!) produced spectacular results!
Monika - So impressed Carlina! You captured a magical moment for sure.
Mandisa - Congrats on the new site.
Omg!!! I especially love this set. You have the ability to capture ordinary things in an extraordinary way. The photos of the kids eating off the leaves are my favorite mainly because they’re my favorite part of going to prayers too ^_^
Did you use one lens for the entire day?
Joanna Schwarz - Carlina, I love the feeling you captured. Such an interesting presentation, too.
Carlina - Thanks Mandisa~ I primarily used my 24-70mm, because it I can count on it to focus quickly and accurately, even in horrible lighting situations. I used the 105mm 2.8 VR macro for a lot of the outdoor portraits though, and a few shots with a couple other lenses as well.
Sajjad - Beautiful captures,
the colours & the light quality is magical
thank you for sharing :-)
Magalie - These are so good it’s ridiculous!
Mandisa - cool ^_^ thanks for the explanation….can’t wait for the next update :)
Basu Irish - Thanks for the fantastic shoot Carli- the colours, livid; moments captured, magical and lighting, absolutely love the play with shadows and light. All my aunts, uncles, kids and grannies are raving about pictures and ur brilliant expertise. Thank you so much for making all of us look good. Cant wait to see the rest :)
Cliff - The site looks tight! Nice and balanced.
I love the fact that I can watch you tell stories through your photos now. To me it’s all of the little details like you captured in between in this set that makes all the difference. The colours are too good in this set.
Suba’s Family Prayers II » Carlina Teteris Photography - […] of shooting Suba’s family prayers for a second year in a row. This year was just as fun as the first round… with nicer light, and a bit more space to move around, but a whole lot more smoke to inhale […]
